DOE-SR, SRMC Commit to Collaborative Partnering Relationship

AIKEN, S.C. (May 4, 2022) — The Department of Energy-Savannah River (DOE-SR) and Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) have signed a new partnering agreement that builds upon the collaborative working relationship between the two entities.

DOE-Savannah River and Savannah River Mission Completion leaders collaborated to create and sign the SRS Liquid Waste Program Partnering Agreement on April 13, 2022.

On April 13, the DOE-SR and SRMC leadership teams established the Savannah River Site (SRS) Liquid Waste (LW) Program Partnering Agreement. SRMC is the liquid waste contractor at SRS. Through collaboration and open discussion, SRMC and DOE formally agreed upon the vision, mission, objectives, values, behaviors, issue resolution process, logistics, and counterpart relationships that formed the basis for the SRS LW Program Partnering Agreement. A near-term Priority Action List was also developed with commitments that will be tracked at plan of the week meetings.

The mission of the SRS LW Program Partnering Agreement is for the SRS Liquid Waste Leadership Team to work together to treat and dispose of radioactive waste and operationally close both liquid waste tank farms at SRS by 2037 in a manner that safely, efficiently, and effectively protects workers, the public, and the environment.

“Our mission is not just for those of us who work at the Site,” said SRMC President and Program Manager Dave Olson. “Our friends, family, and neighbors depend on this mission to make our world safer.”

He continued, “The Partnering Agreement between DOE and SRMC puts our shared value of mutual respect into action. I appreciate the honest and open communication DOE provides to SRMC.”

SRMC comprises parent company BWX Technologies, Inc. with partners Amentum and Fluor. Its team brings the capabilities necessary to accelerate cleanup at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site through safe nuclear operations, optimized and integrated mission execution, and strong corporate governance.
