AIKEN, S.C. (March 19, 2024) — Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC), the Liquid Waste contractor at the Savannah River Site (SRS) donated $10,000 to the Education Scholarships of the Richmond County Neighborhood Associations Alliance, Inc. (RCNAA).
The RCNAA is an Alliance of Richmond County, Georgia, that meets monthly to provide a forum for all involved to address the concerns and needs of the represented neighborhoods, to hear current issues from State and Local officials, to spotlight local established and new businesses, and to provide educational scholarships to deserving high school students in Richmond County at their Annual Scholarship Banquet Dinner.
The $10,000 donation funded the RCNAA’s Scholarships for ten high school students, the group's community and education outreach. Each student received a $1,000 Scholarship to assist with their college endeavors. The Scholarships were presented at the RCNAA’s recent 25th Annual Scholarship Banquet Dinner.
SRMC President and Program Manager, Dr. Dave Olson, said, “the company is proud to support these kinds of educational endeavors that offer financial assistance to deserving high school students with higher education goals.”
“One of my greatest joys is inspiring and aiding young people with furthering their education,” Olson said. “These scholarships provide financial support with the beginning stages of their journey beyond high school by helping them focus more on their studies and less about how they will pay for that first semester.”
SRMC comprises parent company BWX Technologies, Inc. with partners Amentum and Fluor. Its team brings the capabilities necessary to accelerate cleanup at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site through safe nuclear operations, optimized and integrated mission execution, and strong corporate governance.
