SRMC Engineers Help Serve Hope at Golden Harvest, Backed by $5,000 Donation

AIKEN, S.C. (July 16, 2026) — Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) employees rolled up their sleeves at Golden Harvest Food Bank’s community kitchen, The Master’s Table, serving hot meals to neighbors in need while SRMC contributed a $5,000 donation to support the nonprofit’s mission to end hunger in local communities.

SRMC Executive Vice President & Chief Engineer Cliff Conner joins SRMC Reaching Engineers At Developmental Years volunteers at Golden Harvest’s The Master’s Table community kitchen, where they served hot meals and presented a $5,000 donation to Golden Harvest Food Bank Director of Corporate Partnerships & Volunteerism Doressa Hawes to help provide nutritious food for local families in need.

The donation will support Golden Harvest’s work across its 24-county service area in Georgia and South Carolina. One in six people in the Golden Harvest service area struggle with hunger, and one in four children are food insecure. This is the highest rate in 15 years according to the organization. Golden Harvest aims to ensure that by 2030, people struggling with hunger have reliable access to enough nutritious food and that meaningful progress is made toward ending hunger in the region.

Volunteers from SRMC’s Reaching Engineers At Developmental Years (READY) group joined SRMC Executive Vice President and Chief Engineer Cliff Conner in preparing and serving meals at the downtown Augusta community kitchen.

Conner said the volunteer effort was both eye-opening and rewarding.

“Savannah River Mission Completion appreciates the opportunity to support Golden Harvest again this year,” Conner said. “I am pleased I could join SRMC READY volunteers to serve a hot meal to those who need it, and to better understand the scale of food insecurity facing our community.”

Golden Harvest Food Bank Director of Donor Engagement Melissa Osborne expressed her appreciation for SRMC’s continued partnership.

“In times of rising costs and uncertainty, partnerships like this one with SRMC are absolutely vital,” Osborne said. “Their support helps us keep our shelves stocked with healthy food so that families, seniors, and children in our community don’t have to choose between paying a bill and having a nutritious meal.”
