The new outreach programs focus on music education, artistic expression, and cultural engagement. Through its generous support, SRMC is expanding access to arts education via free or significantly reduced-cost programs for those who need it most. This investment funds program development, teaching artists, outreach initiatives in public schools, and thorough evaluations to ensure high-quality experiences and lasting impact for participants.

Shannon Cavero, SRMC Salt Waste Processing Facility Procedure Lead and Aiken Center for the Arts board member, expressed equal enthusiasm for the outreach program and appreciation for SRMC’s support to make it happen.

“Art has the power to transform lives and cultivate community,” Cavero said. “SRMC’s support of the Aiken Center for the Arts aligns with one of our company’s four focus areas for community outreach, which is our commitment to inspire creativity in every individual and enhance the local area’s cultural amenities to enrich lives. I am grateful for the partnership between SRMC and the Aiken Center for the Arts to bring transformative programs to life.”

Aiken Center for the Arts Executive Director Caroline Gwinn shared her excitement with SRMC’s commitment to help advance their outreach programs.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support from Savannah River Mission Completion,” Gwinn said. “With their help, we can reach more individuals and provide experiences that celebrate creativity. By making the arts more accessible through our outreach programming, SRMC’s support is strengthening community ties, fostering creativity, and affirming that the arts are for everyone.”

SRMC comprises parent company BWX Technologies, Inc. with partners Amentum and Fluor. Its team brings the capabilities necessary to accelerate cleanup at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site through safe nuclear operations, optimized and integrated mission execution, and strong corporate governance.

The mission of the Aiken Center for the Arts (ACA) is to inspire and educate by making the arts accessible to all. ACA believes that every individual—regardless of age, ability, or financial means—deserves the chance to learn, create, and connect through the arts. Providing inclusive arts education and ensuring equitable access remains our highest priority.
