AIKEN, S.C. (May 31, 2022) — Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) raised $8,296 for Children’s Place through its own unique take on the area fundraising event, Celebrity Waiter Night.
Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC), the Savannah River Site (SRS) liquid waste contractor, held its own Celebrity Waiter fundraising event on May 18 with lunches delivered onsite and dinners for pickup provided by Blue Collard Catering in Aiken.
This year, there were 140 lunches and 34 dinners served. For lunch, members of the SRMC executive team served employees as “celebrity waiters” by delivering BBQ sandwich meals in SRMC facilities at SRS. The dinners were available for pickup at Blue Collard Catering.
Contributions from this event, which included “tips” from those receiving meals, will allow Children’s Place, a United Way agency, an opportunity to provide meals, mental health services, therapeutic childcare, counselors, speech and physical therapy, and community-based prevention services for children and families in need.
SRMC President and Program Manager Dave Olson said he is pleased with the participation in the event.
“The Celebrity Waiter event gives us a chance to give back,” Olson said. “We are helping our community, not only as individuals, but as one company.”
SRMC comprises parent company BWX Technologies, Inc. with partners Amentum and Fluor. Its team brings the capabilities necessary to accelerate cleanup at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site through safe nuclear operations, optimized and integrated mission execution, and strong corporate governance.
