AIKEN, S.C. (December 1, 2025) — Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) and its employees contributed $293,072 during the company’s annual campaign to raise funds for local United Way agencies.

Savannah River Mission Completion employees joined together to pledge more than $293 thousand to local United Way agencies, while taking part in various fundraising and community service projects.
The SRMC fundraising campaign assists United Way agencies in Aiken, Barnwell/Allendale, Edgefield, Bamberg/Colleton/Hampton, Anderson, McDuffie, and Screven Counties. Also, a portion of the funds is provided to the United Way of the CSRA and Midlands of South Carolina.
“We would not have gotten to this place without our employees’ generosity and care for those who need a hand-up,” said Dr. Thomas Burns, SRMC president and program manager.
SRMC is the Department of Energy’s liquid waste contractor at the Savannah River Site (SRS) near Aiken, S.C. The company’s campaign began in the summer, with small fundraisers that included “Tails of Summer,” a fundraiser that enabled employees to post their pets’ photos that scrolled on video screens located throughout SRMC facilities.
The 2025 SRMC Employee United Way Campaign surged as the annual eCard payroll plan began. Simultaneously, employees and individual facilities organized additional fundraisers involving food contests, a “celebrity waiter” event, trivia, a Halloween candygram, a softball tournament, and a golf tournament.
Burns continued, “As we celebrate another successful effort in support of the United Way and close the books on this year’s campaign, it's heartwarming to know that we have a team that works together for the safe completion of our mission and also works together for the good of our neighbors.”
The 2025 United Way Campaign is the first to be chaired by SRMC Assurance Analyst Grayson Amick. She was pleased that SRMC employees made this campaign a success.
“The United Way organizations of our area provide crucial support to families and individuals who need help,” Amick said. “It’s a wonderful feeling to know that our co-workers are willing to give of their time in projects, and give of themselves financially, to help others live healthier and more productive lives.”
SRMC comprises parent company BWX Technologies, Inc. with partners Amentum and Fluor. Its team brings the capabilities necessary to accelerate cleanup at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site through safe nuclear operations, optimized and integrated mission execution, and strong corporate governance.
