Each of the three student recipients meeting the scholarship criteria received $2,500, as well as an automatic offer for a summer internship with SRMC. Mechanical and process engineering students residing in South Carolina and Georgia who maintain a 3.2 grade point average are considered for the scholarships and internships.

SRMC Chief Engineer and USCA Engineering Advisory Board member Dr. Thomas Burns, Jr. has an established relationship with USCA and a keen interest in its engineering department.

“I am impressed with USCA and the caliber of mechanical and process engineering students it produces,” Burns said. “We are fortunate to have a local university capable of meeting our workforce needs, and SRMC supports the university and its growing engineering department.”

University of South Carolina Aiken Chancellor Dr. Dan Heimmermann said he is excited about the continuing student scholarships and opportunities for the students.

“Through our collaboration with Savannah River Mission Completion, we are seeing a tremendous path to a meaningful job and fulfilling career,” Heimmermann said. “We appreciate SRMC’s support, and we will endeavor to identify other projects that serve both our interests.”

SRMC comprises parent company BWX Technologies, Inc. with partners Amentum and Fluor. Its team brings the capabilities necessary to accelerate cleanup at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site through safe nuclear operations, optimized and integrated mission execution, and strong corporate governance.
