AIKEN, S.C. (December 15, 2025) — Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC), the liquid waste contractor at Savannah River Site (SRS), donated $5,000 to the Salvation Army to support its various programs and services aimed at assisting families in need throughout the Central Savannah River Area.

This contribution reflects SRMC’s commitment to community engagement and social responsibility. The funds will support the Salvation Army’s food programs and emergency assistance services to provide essential resources to some of the most vulnerable members of the community.

Savannah River Mission Completion President and Program Manager Dr. Thomas Burns, Jr. said donating and volunteering each year is gratifying.

“SRMC’s partnership with the Salvation Army is vital in our efforts to support those facing hardship in our community,” Burns said. “We believe that by investing in local initiatives, we can help foster hope and create positive change in the lives of our neighbors. It is our responsibility to give back, and we are proud to support the important work of the Salvation Army.”

In addition to the monetary donation, SRMC executives, including Burns, rang the bell at Walmart on Whiskey Road in Aiken, S.C. as part of the Salvation Army’s annual Red Kettle Campaign. This initiative is designed to raise additional funds for those in need during the holiday season.

“It was important to us to take part in ringing the bell this year,” Burns said. “It’s a small, yet impactful way to engage our community and encourage others to contribute to this important cause.”

The donation comes at a crucial time as the holiday season approaches, a period when demand for the Salvation Army’s services typically increases. The organization looks to provide food, clothing, and shelter to families in need during the colder months.

SRMC comprises parent company BWX Technologies, Inc. with partners Amentum and Fluor. Its team brings the capabilities necessary to accelerate cleanup at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site through safe nuclear operations, optimized and integrated mission execution, and strong corporate governance.
