Savannah River Mission Completion Donates $10,000 to Paine College for Scholarships

AIKEN, S.C. (May 15, 2025) — Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) donated $10,000 to Paine College, a Historically Black College in Augusta, Ga.

The donation is to enhance and support Paine College science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programs by providing scholarships for talented students pursuing degrees in STEM disciplines.
SRMC President and Program Manager Dr. Dave Olson values a strong education with an emphasis on STEM-related curricula.
“We believe that education is a cornerstone of progress, and investing in STEM initiatives is essential for the future,” Olson said. “This partnership with Paine College will not only empower the next generation of leaders and innovators but also contribute to the advancement of technology and science in our community.”
Paine College President Dr. Lester McCorn said this donation from SRMC will serve its students by providing more opportunities to learn with less financial strain.
“This commitment from Savannah River Mission Completion to support STEM education at Paine will significantly impact our students and will help to cultivate a skilled workforce ready to tackle the challenges of tomorrow,” McCorn said.
The donation aligns with SRMC’s ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility and community engagement.
SRMC is the liquid waste contractor at Savannah River Site (SRS). SRMC comprises parent company BWX Technologies, Inc. with partners Amentum and Fluor. Its team brings the capabilities necessary to accelerate cleanup at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site through safe nuclear operations, optimized and integrated mission execution, and strong corporate governance.
Paine College, located in Augusta, Georgia, is a private, four-year HBCU that is affiliated with the United Methodist Church and the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. Paine offers a liberal arts education and is accredited by the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS).
