AIKEN, S.C. (March 17, 2026) – Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC)donated $5,000 to the Savannah River Site (SRS) Retiree Association (SRSRA) to aid the organization in its mission to assist retirees from the Site.

SRMC, the liquid waste contractor for the U.S. Department of Energy at SRS, provided the donation for the SRSRA Resource Center, a vital service hub staffed entirely by former SRS employees who volunteer their time. The Resource Center offers retirees guidance on navigating their benefits, including enrollment in Medicare plans and assistance with filing Medicare claims. Through this center, SRSRA provides in-person consultations for retirees and their spouses, conducts phone consultations, manages claims reimbursements, and helps retirees save on out-of-pocket costs associated with Medicare plans.

Dr. Thomas Burns, Jr., SRMC President and Program Manager, said SRMC understands and appreciates what for SRS workers have contributed to the Site’s successes and how they have helped build stronger communities.

“Savannah River Mission Completion wants to be of service to those who have dedicated themselves to the SRS mission for many years,” Burns said. “By supporting SRSRA, SRMC aims to give back to those who have given so much, providing access to vital resources during their retirement years.”

Deb Shedrow, Chair of the SRSRA, expressed her appreciation for SRMC's contribution, emphasizing its positive influence on the company’s ability to serve the retiree community.

“The SRSRA is grateful for SRMC's support of our Resource Center,” Shedrow said. “This partnership empowers our retirees to make informed decisions regarding their health benefits and simplifies the claims process.”
