AIKEN, S.C. (March 19, 2026) — A senior manager at the Savannah River Site (SRS) received a top honor at this year’s Waste Management Symposia in Phoenix.

Kent Rosenberger, the senior director of Environment, Safety, Health, and Quality for Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC), was awarded the 2026 Waste Management (WM) Symposia Program Advisory Committee (PAC) Award. This award recognizes an individual whose outstanding contributions have helped make and keep the annual WM Symposia the world’s premier conference on the management and disposal of nuclear waste.
SRMC, the liquid waste contractor for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Environmental Management (EM) at SRS, is responsible for safely treating and disposing of the millions of gallons of legacy radioactive waste remaining in the underground tanks at SRS.
Rosenberger has been an active WM Symposia PAC member for over 10 years. The committee is responsible for developing the technical program for the annual WM Conference. The group of volunteers organize technical sessions, review abstracts and papers, and promote international participation in the conference.
SRMC President and Program Manager Dr. Thomas Burns, Jr. said SRMC is extremely proud of Rosenberger for being honored by WM.
“His dedication, innovation, and exceptional leadership inspire all of us at SRMC to go above and beyond the mission,” Burns said. “Kent’s dedicated effort to the WM conference showcases the importance of supporting the broader radioactive waste management community. In this industry of nuclear waste cleanup, if one site wins, we all win.”
Rosenberger graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Nuclear Engineering and has worked at SRS for over 35 years. Over his career, he has worked in radiological protection; waste closure and disposal; and environment, safety, health, and quality.
SRMC comprises parent company BWX Technologies, Inc. with partners Amentum and Fluor. Its team brings the capabilities necessary to accelerate cleanup at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site through safe nuclear operations, optimized and integrated mission execution, and strong corporate governance.
