AIKEN, S.C. (December 9, 2024) — In the last 12 months, Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) employees have worked over 17 million safe hours, eliminated a record amount of radioactivity from waste tanks, completed another massive unit for safe disposal of decontaminated waste, and hosted its largest class ever of summer interns.
All this and more can be found in the company’s annual report for Fiscal Year 2024 (FY24). FY24 ended September 30, 2024. The report is available here: https://www.savannahrivermissioncompletion.com/annual-reports.
Other topics included in the report are safety achievements; employee development initiatives; community and education outreach; and milestones in waste retrieval and closure, salt waste processing, and sludge waste processing.
SRMC President and Program Manager Dave Olson said this past year has been exceptionally successful for SRMC.
“As we close in on three years on the mission, it is important to reflect on what we have accomplished and look ahead at what is to come,” Olson said. “This year we reached new heights in curie reduction, salt waste processing, and workforce growth and development, and we have more to go.”
SRMC is the Liquid Waste contractor at the Savannah River Site (SRS). SRMC comprises parent company BWX Technologies, Inc. with partners Amentum and Fluor. Its team brings the capabilities necessary to accelerate cleanup at the U.S. Department of Energy’s SRS through safe nuclear operations, optimized and integrated mission execution, and strong corporate governance.
