Savannah River Mission Completion Employees Serve Up Support for the Community
AIKEN, S.C. (September 3, 2026) — Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC), the liquid waste contractor at the Savannah River Site (SRS), had 29 employees during the United Way of the Central Savannah River Area's Project SERVE Day of Caring, helping strengthen essential services for families across the area.

In a united show of service, SRMC volunteers assisted area nonprofits the Family YMCA of North Augusta and Golden Harvest Food Bank with transition activities, facility support, and meal preparation that enable local organizations to serve more people more effectively.
SRMC volunteers supported move‑out cleaning at the Family YMCA of North Augusta as the organization transitions from its former building into a new facility designed to expand local programs. Their efforts advanced the YMCA’s mission to promote healthy living, youth development, and inclusive community spaces.
Across the river at Golden Harvest Food Bank’s community kitchen, The Master’s Table, SRMC volunteers prepared and served hot meals to community members experiencing food insecurity. After the meal service concluded, the team stayed to clean and reorganize the kitchen, helping ensure staff and volunteers could seamlessly continue operations. Golden Harvest’s mission to provide dependable access to healthy food remains a vital lifeline for families throughout the region.
SRMC President and Program Manager Dr. Thomas Burns, Jr. emphasized that volunteerism is a core part of the company’s culture and its commitment to the surrounding communities.
