This contribution provides financial assistance to students preparing to take the General Educational Development (GED) test, a computer-based high school equivalency exam. ATC offers both in-person and online testing formats for individuals interested in earning their GED diplomas.
SRMC President and Program Manager Dr. Thomas Burns, Jr. highlighted the critical role of a skilled workforce to overcome hiring challenges faced by companies today.
“The program at Augusta Technical College equips individuals with the necessary skills for potential employment opportunities at SRMC and other regional businesses,” Burns said. “Obtaining a GED opens up a wealth of job prospects for graduates who might otherwise struggle to find qualified positions. Our goal is to create opportunities for students to succeed.”
Augusta Technical College Interim President Dr. Melissa Frank-Alston expressed gratitude for SRMC’s ongoing support of the college and its programs.
“We are incredibly grateful to SRMC for its generous donation to our GED program,” Frank-Alston said. “Their support not only enhances our adult education initiatives but also empowers our students to achieve their educational goals, transforming their lives and our community. Together we are making a significant impact in helping individuals gain the skills and credentials they need to succeed in today’s workforce.”
SRMC comprises parent company BWX Technologies, Inc. with partners Amentum and Fluor. Its team brings the capabilities necessary to accelerate cleanup at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site through safe nuclear operations, optimized and integrated mission execution, and strong corporate governance.
