Bowling for a Better Tomorrow: Savannah River Mission Completion Raises Funds for United Way Through Annual Bowling Event

AIKEN, S.C. (June 29, 2026) — Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) raised over $1,800 for area United Way agencies during its annual bowling fundraising tournament on June 12.

The bowling tournament is not only a friendly and competitive way for co-workers and friends to connect, but it also contributes to the SRMC yearly fundraising goal, according to Kent Rosenberger, SRMC’s Senior Director of Environment, Safety, Health, and Quality.

“Events like the SRMC Annual Bowling Tournament give employees and others the opportunity to give back to their community in a fun and meaningful way,” Rosenberger said. “The money raised from the tournament, along with many other United Way fundraising events held by SRMC employees, is totaled and at the end of the fiscal year, given to local United Way agencies where they distribute the funds to local non-profit partners.”

Some of the agencies the United Way supports include Helping Hands, Tri-Development Center, and The Boys and Girls Club. These agencies use SRMC’s donations to meet practical needs in our community, like providing beds for teens and building wheelchair ramps for residents.

The 2026 bowling tournament had two winners: the highest fundraising team and the highest scoring team. Team “Closure Cowboys” — Kevin Maynard, Mark Whittingham, Kent Rosenberger, and Carson Williams — raised $498,15, securing the fundraising trophy. Team “Just Us,” — Donald Simkins, Brian Hammett, Robbie Robinson, and Sinclair White — bowled the best total score of 1336 points, crowning the team victorious.

The bowling tournament is just one of many employee-driven events throughout the year to support the SRMC Employee United Way fundraising campaign, according to 2026 Campaign Chair Carson Williams.

“SRMC employees never miss a chance to turn friendly competition into meaningful support for our neighbors,” said Williams, a project operations coordinator for SRMC. “The enthusiasm our teams bring to events like the bowling tournament helps ensure the continuation of United Way and its partner agencies to provide critical services to the people who need them.”

SRMC is the liquid waste contractor at the Savannah River Site and comprises parent company BWX Technologies, Inc. with partners Amentum and Fluor. Its team brings the capabilities necessary to accelerate cleanup at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site through safe nuclear operations, optimized and integrated mission execution, and strong corporate governance.
